“The Lutheran Hour” Sunday, May 11. “Not About Mothers” Speaker: Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus. A Mother’s Day sermon that’s really not about mothers? A mother’s sacrificial love and work is another way of understanding all that God has done for us in Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:21).

 

Flowers on the altar are given by St. Paul Lutheran School in honor of the eighth grade graduates. Graduation ceremony is Sunday, May 4, during our 9 am service. Congratulations to: Brandon Greckel, son of Mark and Jody Greckel; Ellan Hasenkamp, daughter of David and Teresa Hasenkamp; Garret Reimers, son of Brian and Lou Reimers; Aubrey Schultz, daughter of Lonnie and Twila Schultz.

 

Adult Bible Study this Sunday morning meets in the church social room. Topic is “Heroes of the Faith.”

 

May coffee and fellowship is hosted by the bell choir and senior choir. Any choir members that can help supply food or serve, please call JoDene Stalp (372-3011).

 

Congratulations to college graduates, Thomas Schultz, May 3, from Wayne State, and Emily Wiechman, May 10, from NECC, Norfolk.

 

Steering Committee for the five year plan meets Tuesday, May 13, 7 pm at St. Paul Lutheran School.

 

A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 7, at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont, for Sandra Clatanoff. We keep this family in our prayers. 

 

Chapel service this week is Friday instead of Wednesday. Friday is the last day of school at St. Paul Lutheran School.

 

Project Good News!  The Stewardship Board is looking to share Christ through the giving of food baskets to families in need.  Our goal is to reach as many families as we can and invite them to connect with Christ here at St. Paul Lutheran Church.  For a list of items to donate please see the display in the back of the sanctuary.  Boxes for donations are in the narthex and the east entrance. Questions can be directed to Ann Wascher 372-2086.

 

Representative from St. Paul, West Point needed:  The Native American Missions Committee of the West Point Circuit requests that each congregation in the circuit have a representative who will attend their monthly meetings, in order to increase communication about this mission work.  The committee normally meets on the 3rd Thursday evening of each month at Zion, Bancroft.  If you are interested in serving in this way, please contact Pastor Bringewatt.

 

St. Paul Fair Stand committee meeting is  Thursday, May 22, 7 pm in the church social room. More help is needed for this committee. Please plan to attend this organizational meeting. If you are willing to help but are unable to attend this meeting, please call Joyce in the church office.

 

College graduates!! Please call the church office before May 20. Give your graduation date and future plans so these can be included in this months Reporter. Thank you.

 

Registration forms for Camp Luther are available in the church office. Camp information is posted in the narthex.

 

An action team is being formed to begin seeking funds for the stain glass window restoration and possibly the replacement of the south stain glass window.  Please contact a trustee if you would be willing to help on this action team.

Vacation Bible School is Monday through Friday, July 7 – 11. The evening includes a meal and Bible school activities for children ages 4 through 5th grade. Sign up sheets are in the back of church for helpers. Watch for more information as it is available.

 

Garage Sale: Friday May 16, 2-8 pm and Saturday, May 17, 7 am – 3 pm in the church social room. Proceeds from the sale go toward the construction of a school in Tanzania, Africa.

 

Thrivent Financial For Lutherans matches 50 cents per dollar donated to Educational Institutions by Thrivent members. (Up to $600 donation) Matching forms for St. Paul Lutheran School and St. Paul Lutheran Preschool are available from the church or school offices.

 

Camp Luther Sunday Picnic: June 1, 1-5:30 pm, 1050 Rd 4, Schuyler.  Available all day: Camp tours, games, canoeing, hiking and food. At 4 pm a quilt auction and silent auction are held. Closing devotions are at 5 pm. Come and enjoy something for the whole family.
