The first person named is captain. He is responsible for ushering of his group. Ushers are to be at church at least 20 minutes prior to church time. They are to take care of persons entering both doors. They are to seat people, hand out bulletins to visitors, see that people get special order of service when in use, and collect offering (count people in church where plate is coming towards you.)

COMMUNION Ten persons are normally at each table for communion but number can be stretched sometimes instead of dividing couples or family. When ushering for communion start the line right after you get to the front. Don't wait until acolyte, elder and pastor have taken their communion. Be sure a full table is ready when pastor is ready to start serving people. Keep the line plenty long. This avoids waiting to get a table of ten ready when some slow moving people are involved or you have to take more pews in order to get enough people who are going.

Help people get special order of services rather then depending on everyone to pick one up. This allows for more friendliness as you greet those coming to church.

It is suggested that more people are ushered into church, especially visitors. Many people are reluctant to go to a pew where some one is on the end, but they would rather sit in those pews. Full pews also makes collecting simpler.

OFFERING  After each service, the lector and captain of the ushering group are to take the offering off the altar, place in money bags, put in safe. Bags are in the sacristy--in top drawer on north end of cabinets.

RINGING THE BELLS  After the prelude stops the bells are to be rung. Press the three buttons down, leave on for sometime, then push them back off.

LIGHTS  Two sets of nave lights are to be dimmed during the sermon. The switches are in the ushers room, down for off and up for on.
