Christian Service Hours for 5th through 8th Grade
CHRISTIAN SERVICE HOURS for 5th-8th Grade is required!
* More Info can be found in the Parent/Student Handbook on page 25-26.*
The Christian Service Program at St. Paul Lutheran School is to provide our students with the opportunity to put into practice Jesus' words" to love one another as I have loved you" through practical service to the people of St. Paul and the community of West Point and surrounding area. Community Service is the idea of giving your efforts willingly and free of charge to an individual or organization that benefits from your help. Community service is not doing chores or babysitting siblings (that's part of being a family) nor is it helping a business. Community Service means that you are helping those without the resources to help themselves or helping a non-profit agency.
Christian Service Hours Required are:
Grades 5 & 6 have 10 hours required
Grades 7 & 8 have 15 hours required
Christian Service Hours may be served during the summer, beginning July 1st, prior to entering 5-8 grade or during the school year. Documentation of service hours are to be submitted to your homeroom teacher on or before May 1st. Students that do not fulfill the required Christian Service Hours will receive an incomplete grade for Religion and the full amount of hours will be added in addition to the next year’s requirement.

Medication Administration Policy for 2025-2026
Due to Nebraska state regulations for schools regarding the dispensing of medication by school personnel, we at St. Paul Lutheran School cannot give your child any over-the-counter medicine, including Tylenol/Ibuprofen, or prescription medication without written permission from a parent or guardian. Due to these heightened regulations, we can not call you to obtain verbal permission. Students are to bring the signed authorization form with the medication itself, in its original bottle with a current label, if prescription, to the school office, or we will not dispense any medications to your child during school hours. A separate authorization form must be completed for each medication and each student. We are not able to use one form for multiple medications or multiple students for the same medication.
*ALL over-the counter medication must be sent to school in the original bottle/package labeled with the student’s name.
The school cannot provide any of these medications.
* ALL prescription medications must be in the original bottle from the pharmacy that states the child’s name, medication,
dosage and dosing schedule.
There needs to be a separate medication log kept for each child’s over-the-counter AND prescription medication(s), along with the dates and times of when the medication is given.

Because of a generous donation, we are able to provide a "Beacon" text message to our church and school families.
Once you register to become a school family, your cell phone is entered into the Beacon. You will begin receiving school messages related to your child's class and/or the school as a whole. If you need to add or remove a person from the Beacon, please contact the school office.
If you would rather receive emails only (instead of texts) that is an option. Thank you.
